    The major use for trisodium phosphate is in cleaning agents. The pH of a 1% solution is 12, and the solution is sufficiently alkaline to saponify most greases and oils. In combination with a good surfactant * , TSP is an excellent chemical cleaning agent for cleaning everything from laundry to concrete driveways.
    ALWAYS TEST all areas you want to clean as TSP may etch some metals and may leave a film on glass if not rinsed off  properly.
    TSP is often used after cleaning with solvents like mineral spirits  to remove hydrocarbon residues. TSP  is typically used with household chlorine bleach solution for removing mildew.
    TSP is also used as a flux for soldering certain metals.
