SKYLAB orbited the Earth from 1973 to 1979, and included a workshop, a solar observatory, and other systems. Skylab was launched on May 14, 1973 by NASA to conduct experiments in space and photograph earth. It fell to Earth and disintegrated on July 11, 1979.
This photograph is an overhead view of the Skylab Orbital Workshop in Earth orbit as photographed from the Skylab 4 Command and Service Modules (CSM) during the final fly-around by the CSM before returning home. The space station is contrasted against the pale blue Earth. Feb. 8, 1974
