RCA Radiola III (Type R1) & Balanced Amplifier Clean! (1924)

Description

Offered is the RCA Radiola III Tube Radio (Type R-1) and companion Balanced Amplifier from 1924. The radio and balanced amplifier are clean and in good condition.  The front panels look good with no scratches or damage.  The controls all operate properly. The Battery Setting Control, Amplification adjustment and Station Selector on the radio all operate properly and rotate freely.   All radio binding post nuts are clean and in good condition.  The wood cases are also clean and in good condition with a few scratches.  The original RCA factory decal is in place on the balanced amplifier and it looks good-the decal on the Radiola III radio is flaking off severely-visible in the photo.  All (4) original bottom feet remain in place on the radio, two bottom feet are missing on the balanced amplifier.  Both tube socket assemblies are loose-their rubber mounting gaskets have fallen apart long ago and they are missing.   The audio transformer in the radio is good, the windings measure out on my VOM as follows:  8.34K and 677 ohms.  The balanced amplifier has an open audio transformer, the second transformer is a three-wire type and it has windings of about 800 and 1200 ohms.  The components within are also clean and in good condition with some grime and debris mostly on the upward facing surfaces.  The original power cable/cords remain attached-the radio power cord is in good condition, the cord for the balanced amplifier is a little frayed-both should be usable.  Bottom Numbers read as follows: 642735 and 212750.  Pick up the Radiola III and Balanced Amplifier for your own collection.  They are seldom offered together.  Replacement tube socket mounting gaskets are available for these models from on-line vendors.  Radiola III: 7 3/4 X 6 1/2 X 4 3/4 inches in size and The Balanced Amplifier is 6 1/2 X 5 1/2 X 4 3/4 inches in size.  A little over 8 pounds packed up.
