    *Up for sale here is a very early and rare blob top top beer bottle, from Franklin, Pa. *Franklin is located in Venango County, just south west of Oil City, Pennsylvania. This hand blown example has the applied on old style blob top. This would have taken the lightning bail top, which is long gone. Bottle is very clean, and was lightly pro cleaned (tumbled) to perfection. This example has seen barely any wear. Near mint shape, with no chips, pings, dings or checks. Bottle looks to date from the from the early to mid 1880's era.
    *It crudely reads in a circular slug plate ~ "PHILIP GROSSMANN / BREWER / FRANKLIN, PA." The embossing is quite crisp. The crude base is plain. There are no glass house initials on the bottle. On the reverse it is crudely embossed ~ "This / Bottle / Not To Be / Sold". This tall gutsy quart example measures 11 3/4 inches tall, and 3 5/8 inches in diameter. You will be well pleased with this wonderful and early piece of pre pro brewery history, from the state of Pennsylvania.
