Description

This official NASA business suit portrait of astronaut Gene Cernan, deceased, shows him holding the Titan/Gemini like he rode to space on Gemini 9. He was then on the Apollo 10 dress rehearsal to the moon, and finally walked on the moon as the 12th and last man to do so on Apollo 17 in December 1972. There is a first day issue postal mark for September 5, 1969 and July 20, 1969 but the "first man on the moon" stamp is missing.
