Description
Embroidered NASA Mission patch from Apollo 8. The astronauts on that space flight were Frank F. Borman II, James A. Lovell Jr. and William A. Anders. The design of the patch is intended by its triangular shape to be that of the command module and the figure eight was woven around the moon and the earth to signify both the mission number and the circumlunar nature of the mission. It was designed by Jim Lovell who reportedly sketched it while riding in the back seat of a T-38 flight from California to Houston shortly after learning of Apollo 8's re-designation as lunar-orbital mission. The patch is in excellent never worn condition. Please review the photo as it is a part of the description and shows the actual item you will receive.Size of the patch is about 4 1/2 x 4 inches.
