    BMW LOGIC7 AMPLIFIER REPAIR SERVICE
    12 Month Warranty
    The service offered repairs amplifier units fitted to the following vehicles:
    BMW 7 Series E65 and E66 models manufactured between 2002-2008
    NOTE: Sadly not all amplifiers are repairable, please read through the guide below to see if we can help you.
    INTRODUCTION:
    BMW e65 e66 logic 7 AMPLIFIER consists of 2 parts: digital and analogue. Digital board features high quality 24 bit DSP Motorola processor, along with 2 optical XS8805 converters with BUILT IN DACS, made by OASIS. This way ASK head unit sends digital data over optical MOST network and L7 Amplifier processes it and you are getting very clean sound, since it's fully digital and you don't get any signal loss or any distortion like in old school amps. Analogue board is simple and features 4 tda chips. They are not reliable and go bad often.
    The BMW LOGIC7 system is essentially split into two parts, the front door speakers and rear parcel shelf speakers are powered from the slot loading CD (tape) drive in the dashboard, this is called the ASK module. The center dashboard speaker, rear door speakers and under seat sub woofers are powered by a separate amplifier that is located in the boot behind the passenger side side panel.
    This listing is for the repair of the amplifier located in the boot.
    CAN YOU FIX MY AMPLIFIER?
    If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms then there is a good chance your amplifier can be repaired to restore full functionality:
    - Crackling rear door speakers.
    - Crackling center dashboard speaker.
    - Lack of bass or crackling under seat sub woofers.
    - Either of the above channels cutting out or failed completely.
    Essentially, you experiencing output stage/channel related failures.
    I HAVE SOME OTHER SYMPTOMS, CAN YOU STILL HELP?
    If you have any of the following symptoms then, I'm afraid we cannot repair your amplifier, please read below for a detailed explanation:
    - No sound from all of the following speakers simultaneously, center dashboard, rear doors and under seat sub woofers.
    - Repetitive popping, or clicking from speakers every 3-10 seconds, usually combined with idrive glitching (brief loss of telephone status).
    - The EQ settings cannot be changed, or are not saved during each ignition cycle.
    WHY CAN'T YOU FIX ALL AMPLIFIERS?
    Sadly but for 5 clip early design the original manufacturer used surface mount 'Chip-On-Board' or 'COB' technology for the two main amplifier processors, basically whats used in  cheap calculators! The reason behind this appears to be cost reduction, unfortunately with many cost reduction strategies, quality and longevity are  the inevitable trade-offs.
    The 'COB' is essentially the raw silicon processor attached directly to the printed circuit board with very fine gold wires, much smaller than a human hair,  which are used to attach it to the printed circuit board, the processor and wire bonds are then protected with a black blob of encapsulation.
    Over time in the automotive environment, where the amplifier is exposed to vibration and repetitive temperature cycling, the wire bonds eventually  weaken. All it takes is 1 of the 250+ wire bonds to break and cause the amplifier to fail.
    In these cases it is not cost effective to repair the amplifier.
    BUT IF ITS STILL PLAYING AND ADJUSTABLE WE CAN REBUILD IT. IF NOT FIXABLE WE CAN OFFER A REPLACEMENT WITH WARRANTY.
    This design was phased out in around 2005 when the processors were changed to standard surface mount packaged parts, this type of amplifier is  easily identifiable, it will have 4 metal clips around the bottom of the enclosure instead of 5, and at the side near the interface connectors will be two  'pressings' stamped into the side of the enclosure, one horizontal and one vertical. These amplifiers are more reliable and generally only suffer from the  audio symptoms described above.
    SO WHAT DO YOU DO?
    Once your amplifier is received, it will be visually inspected for any obvious defect like mechanical or water damage, it will then be tested to verify the  reported failure symptom. We will then contact you to confirm if the amplifier is repairable, if it is deemed that the amplifier is beyond economical repair  due to extensive water damage or processor failure then it will be returned to you and you will be refunded minus 50$+20$ for the diagnostic and return    shipping fee.
    WE WILL ALSO REPROGRAM MAIN CPU TO RUN THE FAN ANYTIME AMPLIFIER IS BEING USED (BY DEFAULT IT WILL KICK IN ONLY AFTER 75C), THIS IS A GREAT MODIFICATION SINCE IT WILL VENTILATE ENTIRE TRUNK AREA WITH YOUR EXPENSIVE UNITS (NAVI, TELEMATICS, VOICE CONTROL, AND OTHER DEPENDING ON OPTION LIST).
    If the amplifier is repairable (we repair almost all 4 clip amps), it will be tested a board level and the faulty components will be replaced, the amplifier will then be subjected to a functional test to prove the reported fault has been rectified. The unit will then be re-assembled and sealed with a tamper evident 12 month warranty label.
    After the repair it will be more reliable, than 1200$ brand new one, because original design flaw eliminated!

Ask any shop to do it and you'll be surprised but "professional" shops can't do it. Running this amp at high temps will make it go bad quick.
