when upgrade display, you will need to upgrade head unit too.
in 99% cases monitor will not work with OLDER system head unit.

NO because your old system may not support touch display. and display will show NO SIGNAL. but coding engineer can change settings to make it work. please contact me with your BMW VIN number, I will check if this display work on your car or not.
My BMW is 2012 and later and has ENTRYNAV2 system, can I upgrade my small 6.5" display to yours 10,25"?
YES, you can BUT WILL NEED TO DO CODING, your ENTRYNAV2 system will not set up new display size automatically.
My current 10,25" TOUCHSCREEN display is BROKEN or damaged, can I simply replace it to this one?
YES, you can just remove your broken display and replace it with my display,
My display was stolen, and I do not have what display model I had, can you help me with that?
