Hello!! and thank you for looking at my item.
ITEM:
Up for bids is vintage
Atwater
Kent
8930 Model 33 Table Set Radio.
INFO:
This unit was manufactured by Atwater Kent Mfg Co in
Philadelphia
around or about 1927. This is a broadcast receiver that contains 6 electron tubes. The principle operation is TRF without reaction (non regenerative). The unit has 4 AM tuned circuits that receives signals on Broadcast (MW) band only. The unit is powered on storage and or dry batteries. This will need a separate external speaker that will not be included with the unit. The exterior case is made of wood. The price in the first year of sale was .00.
INSPECTION:
The exterior wood case is in good shape with minor scratches but no deep gouges. The case will need to be refinished. The lid
and hinges are in good shape. The lid lock to keep the lid open operates properly however has some minor surface rust. The metal front face plate is severely rusted. It will need to be sanded and painted. All of the original knobs and badges on the front are present and are in good shape. The “Atwater Kent Radio” badge has some minor blemishes. The volume knob moves smoothly with no sticking. The power switch goes in and out and locks properly at the selected position. The tuning knob turns smoothly and line up properly with the selected setting. When the tuning knob is turned, the condensers inside of the radio move accordingly. The numbers on the tuning knob is present and legible. On the rear of the unit are decals identifying the path of the wires for the speaker. The decals for Antenna, Ground are missing. There is also another Atwater Kent decal on the chassis with the model and serial number of the radio. The chassis inside of the unit has a lot of rust. Overall the chassis look to be in good shape. The safety fuse is in place but was tested and found to be open. All six tubes are missing. Wires coming from the bottom side of the chassis have been cut off but enough wire still remains to make new connections. No burn marks or smells emitting from the unit.
TESTING:
The unit was not fully tested but was given some minor bench testing as permitted. No more testing was done.
SUMMARY:
Original packaging and instructions are not included. Good bones for a rehab project. This could be a very nice radio once restored. Good edition to any vintage

radio collection.
