Antique Chinese Ink Stone Cake Inkstone Engraved Tiger and Bird

Description

Antique Chinese rectangular ink stone, with delicately engraved birds on the plate, and with an engraved tiger and array of Chinese character marks on the lid.  Red enamel tiger tongue.
It is a heavy piece, and very old, a 19th or very early 20th century piece (Qing dynasty).
Size: 1" high x 6 1/2" x 4 ¼
This superb example was artfully hand-carved from Song Hua Jiang stone, and shows only minor scratches and one chip on the bottom, all consistent with age and use, but generally is in very good condition.
This would make an exceptionally fine addition to any collection of antique scholar's or calligraphy objects.
