Description

This recent find comes from Estate of Retired NASA Advanced Development Project Manager & Aerospace Engineer at Marshall Space Flight.  The BOEING X-40 was the 1st Test platform for the unmanned X-37 NASA Project that was introduced in 1998 and was to be put into Orbit by the Space Shuttle but later was redesigned for the Delta IV Rocket because of cost issues - (The X-40 looked like a mini-me Space Shuttle).  In September 2004 this project was turned over to the "Department of Defense" and the Air Force. This is a March 20th 2001 original MSFC/NASA VHS tape from Dryden and is titled "X-40 CC b-roll & FREE FLIGHT #1" this one of seven test performed by NASA in 2001 before May 1st 2001 which is Mug date and the last test flight. Note: The X-37 under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or (DARPA) is Now Classified but in October 2019 completed a 780 day unmanned Orbit/Mission - There is all kinds of NASA info on the X-40 project online but this is the only original NASA issued test tape I have seen and I live about 3 miles from MSFC/NASA and have seen a lot of NASA items in the last 20-25 years - Tape was viewed at Estate before purchase but I do not have a VHS player to take pictures of it playing - Tape is in great condition and fully functioning.
