The Advanced X-Ray Astrophysics Facility (AXAF) was renamed to CHANDRA X-Ray Observatory in 1998 to honor Nobel prize winning Indian-American astrophysicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar.
Booklet is about 40 pages, staple-bound, and covers the purpose of AXAF, and how it will characterize the science and physics of the Universe.
Created by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center's Astrophysics Division, EP251.

Chandra was launched aboard Columbia during STS-93 on July 23, 1999. It is still flying and collecting data.
